theeverygirl - how to support a friend who lost a parent. Frank lost his dad when we were only 21 and at the time none of my friends had experienced a loss like that and I was in unchartered territory. I would say pay attention to the months ahead, once the food and flowers stop arriving, thats when they will need you the most.
Vogue - A reading list to help you slip right into Fall. I’m not really a book club kind of girl (maybe if there was one for people reading aka starting and stopping four books a year) but I would like to start reading more and would love to hear your suggestions. I want to fall in love with reading….HELP!
Town & Country - 7 surprising Labor Day facts. The one the resonates the most with me is that in many cases its the longest working hours for people in retail. I was there, its one of the hardest parts of the retail world - holiday hours.
Sezane’s new collection is beautiful. Color palette for Autumn - ivory and chestnut with a pop of the prettiest earthy blue:
JCrew - It looks like they’re stepping up their game for Fall. This cable sweater in the perfect pink hue and this cream puff sleeve style. I’m a big fan of a boiled wool coat - love the blue color of this one.
Dressing in September - a friendly reminder that dress season doesn’t begin and end with summer. I love wearing dresses in the month of September, especially white ones layered with a soft cardigan. I usually don’t break out my leather jacket until October. Here are a few more looks to help you get excited for Fall.
I pursued MANY Labor Day sale sites trying to round up a few summer sale pieces that you could still wear into Fall but I didn’t find anything worthy of your end of season dollars:) That being said one of my favorite sites is having a site wide sale which includes their new arrivals of up to 30% off. Their Fall collection is the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen from this brand. Its like Ulla Johnson meets Ralph Lauren at slightly higher than Zara prices - i’m dead.

This sweater dress
White jeans 365 days a year!
Love the button detailing on this sweater + how adorable are the crop flair pants paired with it?
Love this long-sleeved tee for under $20. Something I always forget to buy but so so happy I have when I have them!
You can never have enough cozy drawstring pants! This would be great paired with a black cashmere sweater and sneakers or boots for an elevated “lounge” look.
20% off with code GATHER
I bought this coat two years ago when I was working for Theory and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn it. It was over $500 and an investment piece for sure, but also probably one of my favorite Fall staples in my closet. I’ve worn it over a t-shirt with blue jeans in the early Fall and also bundled up in the colder months with a sweater, scarf, and leather leggings. It is nice to have a piece that I can go to year after year and not feel like I need to purchase a newer “version” of it. Speaking of oldie but goodies…these sneakers are five years old! I bought these at Club Monaco when I was working for Ralph Lauren. I had never seen them anywhere else until we were in Belgium this summer and every store was carrying them! You can shop them online here (in shearling!!!) and here. SO comfortable and durable even in the suede. OK now I’m off to pack for my sister’s wedding! Can’t wait to share this weekend with you:)
A TIMELESS COAT

A HUGE announcement over here!! In January of 2017 I launched Cindy Hattersley as a creative outlet and a place to share my style with clients and friends. During this time I was managing a full time schedule at work which also meant travel to New York City and beyond. With the arrival of Harrison in May of 2017 the past 18 months have been an adventure to say the least! Last month I decided it was time to say goodbye to my career in fashion as I knew it and take a huge leap of faith in something bigger, myself! This means I will be dedicating all of my time to Cindy Hattersley and styling. The last two weeks have been filled with emotion (not going to lie fear has been the number one) but I am so excited for whats to come. Thank you for all of your support up until now and I hope you'll come along with me on this journey! #GIRLBOSS
I bought this shirtdress last month and I've worn it three times already! I also found this almost identical version here and here. When Frank and I went to Rhode Island for a last minute anniversary day trip a couple of weeks ago, I rolled it up into my beach bag in case I need a dress change and I did! In the land of white dresses, this is one you won't regret! Rounded up some other faves right now...scroll down:)
My jewelry is usually very minimal but I LOVE a great statement piece! I had been eyeing this necklace since I saw it on a blogger last year. Its perfect to throw on with any summer dress or even a white tee and denim shorts!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I learned that patience is a VIRTUE after 3+ days with the kiddos sans Frank. I feel like a wimp/failure admitting it but its HARD. Especially when you're not used to being home all the time. Personally, my thought has always been that going to work is easier but I guess its just about what you're used to. And I'm a doer...even though I know I set myself up for crying and meltdowns taking my kids out to lunch at 2pm when they should be napping...we end up having a great time. Sure I'm exhausted today but it was all worth it. At the end of this month I'll be leaving my "corporate" job for something much more flexible (working for myself 100%) but even more challenging. I'm not sure if thill will make me a much more scheduled mom but I have a feeling it will. We shall see!!
I recently received these gorgeous earrings from Hart Haggerty and loved them instantly. I have the beach topknots and love the color. The quality is great and I was shocked when say that they were $58! Since my style is usually pretty classic and simple, I'm always adding a statement earring for a little extra. Whether you're wearing a maxi dress or just a white tee and jeans, a chic earring is the perfect addition for the season.
Clearly you can see I have vacation on my mind! I purchased this necklace a couple of weeks ago and knew I wanted to incorporate it into one of my lust lists. You can't tell from the pic but its actually oversized and I immediately thought it looked like an Hermes necklace (and certainly something more expensive). I'm not usually a green person but loved these pale tones paired back to blushes and ivory. If I do wear green its always a shade of "army" which is a closet staple!

Last month I asked my readers what what they wanted to see more of on the blog and so many of you asked for outfit ideas for work. There are a hundred ways to break this one down but I decided to start with a casual office look because I believe it can be the most challenging. Lets break it down: you don't have to wear a suit, but you need to look professional, no denim (ignore that I'm wearing black jeans in these pics!), and you want to look sophisticated and chic all the while not wearing anything too revealing. Like I said, its a challenge! I always tell my husband he has it so easy - casual for the guys means a nice pair of khakis or dress paints and a button down or a nice sweater. Hi answer is always that his options are boring at which point I have to agree.
So I've rounded up options for every budget and my advice is to make investments on timeless pieces that you can wear over and over again...like this twist on a classic and this ivory silk blouse. High/low dressing is at its finest in the office and mixing a Mango pant with a pair of investment pumps is the perfect solution to creating 6 months worth of outfits on a limited budget. Also this silk bow blouse is perfect and a must for any working girl. I love it because you can throw it on with a pair of jeans after work and head out for a date night. Lastly, if you're going to splurge on prints go for plaid!

Hi friends! You may have seen bloggers posting their 5 things you may not know about me over the last couple weeks. Personally I loved learning more about the ladies I follow and after I did it on my Instagram stories I realized there was an opportunity to share these things with my blog readers as well. I receive a lot of questions on Instagram about how and why I started my blog so I wanted to share that too!
I officially started my blog in January of 2011 (see archives!). Frank and I were dating and living together in New York and I was working for Ralph Lauren. I loved it! At the time many of today's biggest bloggers were just starting out...my favorites were Man Repeller and Atlantic Pacific. For 9 months I blogged almost everyday! Looking back some months there were 32 posts! I can't even imagine that today. People ask me why I stopped and I laugh out loud (at myself) - I felt like I was too busy! I guess its all relative but I had a fast paced job, a boyfriend, and a social life and it just felt like I couldn't keep up. The follow up question I always get is "do you regret it?" and my answer is no. Seven years later I love the perspective that I have. I've been working in the fashion industry for almost a decade and I have a passion today that I don't think I had then. The funny thing is now I REALLY have no time! But I also really love what I do and I want it. Kids or no kids you have to love having a blog, creating content, styling, etc. because the hours are long and the majority of the time its not glamourous. So here we are today - Cindy Hattersley is my third baby, my creative outlet, and my passion poured into pictures and posts. I think its also important to say that my favorite part of blogging is YOU! The readers...I live for your feedback, commentary, suggestions, and questions...so keep them coming!

I'm addicted to neutrals. I don't know when it started really...I did wear color in college? And I used to wear more black...but somewhere along the way my love for a monochromatic and tonal look became my obsession. If I had to guess, growing up and going to Belgium every summer may have had something to do with it. From the youngest age I remember appreciating the white oak wide plank floors, natural linen fabrics, and grey stone accents. I've always associated home with this palette - its my comfort zone.
As a stylist my biggest challenge is stepping out of it sometimes. I started this blog not only as a creative outlet but as a place to share my style. It has been SO helpful when it comes to identifying a client's desired look and I love the challenge. My jacket in these pics is old. It was a splurge purchase when I worked for Ralph Lauren but I knew it would go with everything and the quality is great. I found a similar color jacket here and a steal version here. I rounded up some of my favorite neutrals below. My jeans are old from Zara but I also linked a few available styles. You can't go wrong with winter white denim. I have a splurge pair and less expensive version because I wear them so often...but you can't go wrong with purchasing THESE!
PS these are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I love that I can slip them on hands free which is the best when I'm running out the door bag in one hand baby in the other!

It's here!! I like Black Friday and I LOVE cyber Monday. I don't know why, maybe its the idea of sitting in your pajamas all day, coffee in hand, shopping for deals? (not that I've ever done that - I'm always at work ordering via my cell phone) I think its because I've always loved the hunt.
PS: need help finding the perfect gift for your sister's mother-in-law? Or your best friend who has it all? I'm here for you!
I did a huge round up on the Net sale HERE. Sizes are selling out fast but I love this sweater. Just ordered this bra in black and pink (dying to try this pretty trend under a silk blouse). This scarf is such a pretty color and would also make the perfect gift. I know this sweater is a basic but its just SO good. My favorite jeans are 30% off!
This sale is so GREAT! 40% off full price and they have an amazing selection of Men's and Children's this year. LOVE this sweater. Its the perfect twist on the classic fireman style. I have these jeans and they fit so well and this color goes so well with all my gray and blush peeves for Fall/Winter. These boots are great if you're looking for a winter style. This coat in grey is !!!!! They make it every year and it still remains a classic.
Buy more, save more up to 35%! You can see my full Club Monaco sale post HERE. Their tiered sale is site wide also and such a great opportunity to pick up classic and holiday pieces for yourself and gifts. This face mist smells so good. I gave this to all the women in my family last year. If you like wearing ballet flats this pair is so comfortable. I've posted about this sweater a few times already but it really is so pretty!
